Have a small hallway and want to may it look WOW? Not a problem. Here are a few tips that make the entryway to your home feel welcoming, warm and yet modern.

Hallways are the first space that you and your visitors see when entering the house/apartment, therefore creating a great first impression is a must.

I’d say the first tip would be to have… mirrors!  It is pretty obvious that mirrors enlarge the space visually, and not only that – they also add instant glamor and interest, as well as giving you a place to check your outfit. What a versatile design feature!

For my interior design project in Battersea I went for an antique mirror to decorate a small hallway. The mirrors are incorporated into the custom made fitted shelving units and a wardrobe which makes it a great functional design feature. Add LED lights around it to make it look even more WOW!

As for the colour of the walls in the small hallway, it all depends on the overall colour scheme of the flat/house. In this case I went for a neutral Farrow and Ball  Mole’s Breath, since we already have quite few different colour and finishes throughout the entire flat. It is a mid-tone grey with a light hint of purple. I love using Grey shades in my designs as they offer infinite possibilities for making a space feel relaxing, refined and timeless. Have you ever noticed how calm you feel in the grey coloured room?

With clever hallway lighting ideas you can create a look that is both strong and atmospheric upon entrance.  A feature light could be a nice addition to the hallway interior. Depending on the ceiling height and overall design, you can go for either pendant light or ceiling mounted light.

The feature light I went for in this project is a statement in itself, however it fits perfectly well with the rest of the items in the hallway and compliments the overall look. Make sure you don’t overdo the lighting! I had to remove the spot lights from the hallway as having a ceiling feature light and LED strip lights around the shelves is more than enough to illuminate a small room.

Keep ceiling white to avoid making the space too dark and heavy! Also, current white marble floor in this hallway gives an airy feel to the space, and combining it with Grey and Dark walnut gives a truly luxury look!
